Once again, the summer has come to an end. When I was a child, this is when my mother would sing "school bells ringing, children singing, everyone's going back to school again."

This past Labor Day weekend, I heard a woman on the sidewalk singing the same to her children. It actually made me a little nervous as it reminded me of the new classmates, new lunchmates and all the emotions of returning to school. It also reminded me of how songs can bring us back in time and precisely into moments and memories that have been suppressed for decades.

On that same day, a friend posed me an interesting question: "If you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life, who would it be?" I responded: "Could I listen to the independent songs and albums from the founding band members?" His answer was yes.

My first choice without hesitation was the Eagles.  Five number one singles, six number one albums and I get to listen to Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Glenn Fry and Randy Meisner. I could even argue adding Jackson Browne!

As curiosity always kills this cat, I went home and researched the history of the Eagles. I also learned that there is an Amazon Prime Video titled "The History of the Eagles" I can't wait to watch.

The Eagles songs always bring me back to days growing up in the 70's and 80's. I thank my parents and family for demanding I grow up outdoors in the woods and pits and on the farms. There was never a dull day and everyday had a story.

I will end with the proverbial question: What band would you choose to listen to for the rest of your life?

Best Regards,
Jack
